Life is short, often boring, sometimes brutal, and always terminal. This is not a problem to solve, but a truth to observe.
This site collects my attempts to see life clearly — through journal entries, essays, poems, short stories, and aphorisms on life, death, boredom, presence, and the art of being weird on purpose. Philosophical pessimism is a practice for staying alive and awake.
I'm the Sage of Pessimism. I don't write about ways to make life more palatable. I write about ways to see it without illusion and to choose to live it anyway.
